Introducing House Franc
After years of designing under my own name, it feels like the right moment to grow into something bigger. Something that holds not just me, but the heart of the work we love most.
When I first started my design practice, it carried my name. But over time, I realized the work was never really about me. It has always been about you: the people who live in these spaces, and the ways a home holds your stories, your daily rituals, your joys and imperfections. Putting my name at the front no longer felt right. What we create deserves something larger than a single identity, something that speaks to sincerity, history, and future all at once.
That’s how House Franc came to be. A name that feels steady and true, much like the homes we design. It carries with it our quiet mantra: Space for Sincerity.
This change feels a little like coming home. It’s not just a new name, it’s a clearer reflection of what we’ve been quietly building all along: spaces that are relational, enduring, and full of story. Over time, the vision for our studio has sharpened, designing soulful homes that wear in, not out. Honoring natural materials that only grow more beautiful with age. Serving clients who value depth over display. And trusting the slow, meaningful process of making a house feel like yours.
And in case you’re wondering, we pronounce it like “Frank.” Franc is the French word for genuine, which is exactly what we aim for in our work: honesty in materials, sincerity in process, and spaces rooted in what’s real, not what’s trendy. It’s also a little nod to our Canadian roots and to the quiet elegance of French design. Thoughtful, restrained, and very human.
With this new chapter comes a small but exciting shift in our services. We’re focusing more deeply on kitchen remodels and full-home renovations, the kinds of “designed-to-be-built” spaces that transform how a home truly lives. While we’ll still offer thoughtful design guidance, our heart is here: crafting kitchens as the soul of the home, and creating spaces layered with stories, told through warmth, texture, and quiet beauty.
We’ve added two new projects to our portfolio that embody this evolution:
A serene retreat layered in natural stone and natural light, designed to feel like a pause in the rhythm of daily life.
A home tucked into the trees, where warmth, texture, and restraint come together in a space that feels timelessly grounded.
This rebrand has been such a joy to bring to life, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the wildly talented Hannah of Duende Design Co. From the very first conversation, Hannah understood the essence of House Franc. Its quiet sincerity, its layered warmth, its devotion to design that feels lived-in and soulful. She carried that through every detail of our new brand and website with such care.
Her work is more than visual; it’s story-driven and deeply intentional. Every color, typeface, and nuance you see here was chosen with heart. Hannah has a gift for creating brands that feel like home, and working with her has been one of the best parts of this journey.
If you’re not already following her, you can find her beautiful work on Instagram @duendedesignco.
And finally, thank you. Truly. Your support means more than you know, especially during this season of growth and change.
In all honesty, you belong here.
With warmth and gratitude,
Emily
